Meet The Team

Sara and Becky are both experienced veterinary surgeons local to the area. We have run a large successful veterinary hospital and are excited to be finally opening our own independent veterinary clinic, where we will be both owners and vets enabling us to build a traditional community veterinary practice that values and cares for patients and their owners alike. Our friendly and compassionate approach, alongside our ability to offer more advanced services such as keyhole surgery, endoscopy and ultrasound, sets us apart from other veterinary clinics.

Sara

Having been a vet for longer than I care to remember, I can still say I truly love my job. I graduated from Edinburgh Dick Vet in 2002 and have worked as a GP vet ever since.

Having long forgotten what it is like to don a pair of wellies and attend a calving cow at 3am in the middle of nowhere I find myself immersed and enjoying every aspect of being a small animal vet, and over the years have honed my skills in medicine and surgery under the mentorship of some amazing colleagues. Meeting owners and their pets, forming a bond and seeing them through both the good times and the bad is a privilege.

The trust instilled in me by those owners is a very special thing. I am so excited to finally be able to open my own practice with Becky and deliver our brand of care.

Becky

I absolutely love being a vet, and opening a practice with Sara is a dream come true. I graduated from Edinburgh in 2013; and worked as a mixed and then small animal vet in a fantastic practice for 10 years. I am passionate about taking care of our team, clients and patients.

As well as Heritage Vets, I run a business teaching keyhole surgery to other practices. I feel honoured to be able to build relationships with clients, and to see their beloved pets from being young right through to helping them in their old age.

My time out of work is taken up by my children Jack and Ivy, ridiculous combination of three dogs, and occasionally I see my long suffering husband!

Kelly

After qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College back in 2006, I have spent the majority of my career in small animal practice, several years of which were in and around Edinburgh. I love being part of a profession that continues to challenge us to develop and learn, so we can still strive to do the very best for our patients. No two days will ever be the same and I would argue it’s one of the most rewarding jobs to have!

I have also been fortunate enough to work with both Sara and Becky during this time, and have previously worked with their incredible nursing team and I’m excited to be joining them again.

I have a particular interest in treating small animal emergencies and I’m currently working to obtain my certificate in this area. I also enjoy surgery and I look forward to meeting clients and helping to take care of your pets.

In any time that I have left, I am busy looking after my three girls, and our Corgi Daphne.

Kristi Leckie RVN

Senior Veterinary Nurse

I bring over a decade of experience and unwavering dedication to the world of veterinary care. I graduated with Honours from Edinburgh Napier University in 2013. My commitment to lifelong learning has kept me at the forefront of veterinary medicine and community care.

My main passion lies in consulting and community nursing. I am our go-to person for complex consulting nursing cases, approaching them with compassion and clinical expertise. I understand the anxiety that many pet owners feel when their pets are unwell, and provide comfort to pets and their carers at the most difficult of times.

Whether it’s a nervous kitten or a senior dog needing some extra care and attention, I ensure that every patient and owner feels safe and understood. I believe in the power of connection, and am helping us restore the personal touch to veterinary medicine at Heritage Vets. Its not just about diagnosis and treatment, it’s about understanding and cherishing the unique bond between pets and their humans. I will ensure that every interaction leaves a positive impact.

Suzanne Craig RVN

Senior Veterinary Nurse

I have many years experience in Veterinary Nursing. I have keen interests in anaesthesia, laparoscopy and ultrasonography. I am the glue that holds our theatre together, ensuring that every bit of equipment is working and every animal is given my dedicated and expert care.

I am also an incredible radiographer – my ability to take the perfect dental or limb x-ray is second to none!

When I’m not working I am kept busy by my son and crazy kitten!’

Holly Johnstone RVN

Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from Edinburgh Napier in 2021 and have been working in general practice since. I enjoy all aspects of my nursing role, particularly a more challenging case, where I can use my nursing skills and approach with an attention to detail.

I have 2 cats at home and I understand how stressful coming to the vet can be for our feline friends, so creating a cat friendly environment is very important to me.

Throughout university and my nursing career, I have also taken a particular interest in mental health within the industry having carried out research and extra training in the area. I would love to pursue this interest further in the future.

I am so excited to be part of the team at Heritage Vets and look forward to meeting our clients and their pets!

Katy Fraser

Veterinary Receptionist

I have always had a passion for pets and their care. I originally started working with animals in a pet shop, and have built my knowledge from there.

I have many pets of my own, most notably four long haired chihuahuas who keep me very busy!

I look forward to seeing you and your fur babies in practice.

Jill Robertson

Veterinary Receptionist

I joined the veterinary world back in 2017 as a receptionist, and found a real love for the job. Client care and building relationships with clients is my favourite part! (Fur baby cuddles are always a bonus).

When I’m not in work I enjoy spending my time with my family and our crazy boxer dog Poppy.

I am so excited to be a part of the Heritage Vets team and look forward to meeting all our clients & their pets!
